Base jumping is considered as an extrem sport such as Bungee Jumping. However, Bungee jumping is allowed from bridges. Actually, Base jumping is forbidden if you jumps from something built. You can jumps for a cliff but it is at your own risks.

Jumping from a brige, a antenna or a building can lead you to be fined or in prison if you injure anybody. That is why base jumpers have a lot of skills in piloting and controling their parachute flight. In fact, they try to land in some good places not to be hurt and to escape very fast. There is always somebody who is waiting for the jumper down the building so that they can both leave the place and not getting caught. Of course, some competitions allow base jumping from buildings like in Malasia with the Petronas Tower Base jumping Competition.

Every year, there are an average 150 skydiving problems. Only a few caus injuries or death as there are some rescue parachute. The problem is that in base jumping, it is almost useless to have one as you have not got the time to open the second parachute. It can be useful only if you are locked on a cliff and you want to ju^mp again, like this man in this video on the bridge of San Francisco:

The wing suit

The wingsuit is, as its name explains, a suit which helps ou to have a horizontal mouvement when you are skydiving. As a result, you can feel like flying and you can control your trajectory.

The innvovation was made by Loic Jean-Albert who made the first wongsuit in 2000.

As you can see on this picture, the skydiver can move his legs and his arms to control drift and drag. Reducing his falling speed, the flier can spend more time in the air. Some of the base jumper really like this suit as they can control their flight which make them able to go really fast and close to some cliffs. You can see an exemple in this next video:

Felix Baumgartner is the most popolar BASE jumper of the world. He is german and australian, there are some awesome videos of him:

World Champion title for B.A.S.E. jumping in West Virginia, USA.

1999:
World record: highest B.A.S.E. jump from a building, the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (1.479 feet). World record: lowest B.A.S.E. dive from the Christ Statue in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (95 feet).

2000:
Nominated for the NEA Extreme Sports Awards in Munich. Category: Special Achievement.

2001:
Nominated for the World Sports Awards in London, Royal Albert Hall. Category: Extreme Sports. Nominated for the NEA Extreme Sports Awards in Munich. Category: Special Achievement.

2002:
Added to the “Street of Champions” in Vienna, Austria.

2003:

Channel of Corinth: B.A.S.E. jump from a 193 feet high bridge in freefall. Marmet Cave in Velebit National Parc, Croatia: B.A.S.E. jump into a 623 feet deep cave.

Bridge of the Americas, Panama: B.A.S.E. jump from the 393 feet high Panama bridge. World record: B.A.S.E. jump from the highest bridge in the world, Millau Bridge, France (1.125 feet).

2005:
Star guest at the famous Late Night Show with Jay Leno, Los Angeles, USA.

2006:
B.A.S.E. jump from the highest building in Latin America, Torre Mayor in Mexico City (738 feet). B.A.S.E. jump from the highest building in Scandinavia, Turning Torso, Malmö, Sweden (627 feet). Felix becomes a helicopter pilot at Twin Air Helicopter School, Van Nuys, USA.

2007:
B.A.S.E. jump into the second biggest cave in the world, „Seating of the Spirits“, Oman (396 feet). B.A.S.E. jump off the worlds tallest building – 101 Tower, Taipei (1669.94751 feet)
